About Us
PomPom Film is a production company founded by a director and producer Marina Andree Škop with the idea of creating a hub for European film talents, a place where filmmakers are creating stories that the audience strongly identifies with.
Since 2011, Marina has been deeply involved in creating audiovisual content for children and youth, with many of her projects airing on Croatian Television. Her work includes the children’s TV series “Labaratorij na kraju svemira / SpaceLab”, the interactive project “RECi” for teenagers, and the transmedia project “Let’s Play a Story”, which received the Best Project Award at JCM Cinekid 2014, it was featured on the Danish Film Institute’s VOD platform for schools, and it is also available as an iOS app.
Together with Dražen Žarković she co-directed and produced the SF feature for kids “My Grandpa is An Alien,” distributed in twenty-six countries, showcased in over 60 international festivals, including Cinekid 2019, Warsaw International Film Festival 2019, Cottbus Film Festival 2019, Tallin Black Nights Film Festival 2019, Thessaloniki International Film Festival 2019, and others, securing sixteen international awards, including the prestigious ECFA award at the Olympia Film Festival in Greece.
PomPom Film’s recent successes, the Slovenian-Luxembourg-Croatian-Slovak co-production, “Kapa/Beanie,” directed by Slobodan Maksimović, supported by Eurimages, won three international awards, including the Best Film of the Children’s Program at the Sarajevo Film Festival 2022. This success extended to Croatian cinemas, where PomPom Film organized school screenings, accumulating about 40,000 admissions and surpassing 115,000 admissions across various countries.
In 2023, PomPom Film released the short animated film “Blue Teddy Bear,” receiving three international awards and being screened at film festivals such as Giffoni Film Festival 2023, Los Angeles ICFF 2023, and Athens Film Festival 2023.
Looking ahead to 2025, PomPom Film is in postproduction with “Glavonja”, a feature film for children, directed and produced by Marina Andree Škop and Vanda Raýmanová. This adventurous and comedic story highlights the importance of embracing differences through a quirky blend of live-action and animation. Co-produced by PomPom Film (HR), Objectif (SK), Senca Studio (SI), Air Productions (LV) and This and That Productions (SR) the project is supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Slovak Audiovisual Fund, National Film Centre Latvia, Slovenian Film Fund, Viba Film, Creative Europe MEDIA, and others.
Beyond “Glavonja” PomPom Film’s plans for 2025 include co-producing “1970,” a Serbian-Hungarian-Croatian film for young audience (14+) directed by Darko Lungulov, exploring the humor in coming-of-age during the era of the hippie revolution and societal changes.
The collaboration with Czech production company 8Heads Productions brings forth “GameGirl,” the most ambitious feature film for children that addresses the theme of acceptance through a playful and imaginative coming-of-age story. “GameGirl” is supported by CE MEDIA, Czech Film Fund and Croatian Audiovisual Centre.
